Mandelbrot: All Hail to the Chief

A sad day indeed with the passing of Benoit Mandelbrot, a mathematician who’s inspired some great thinkers including Nassim Taleb, Michael Mauboussin, Paul Wilmott and others. Shunned in his day for the suggestion that the stock market doesn’t behave as conceptual standard models say it should, Mandelbrot received acclaim later in his life for his work on fractal geometry and identification of different types of randomness (mild vs. wild).

It’s in honor of Mandelbrot that I link to one of the most popular columns on Boundaryless Marketing:  “Marketing Lessons Learned from Benoit Mandelbrot”.
